The United States Truckers Articles of Declaration for 2020
Thank you for taking the time to visit this site.
Due to the harshness of the laws and regulations that the federal government has imposed on us, we, as a collective whole, must take the necessary measures to assure that our members of Congress hear and understand the circumstances that they have created. For far too many decades the American truck driver has endured unrealistic laws and regulations that don't work in the real world environment. Truck drivers have worked diligently and at a great cost to petition Congress and the FMCSA to make changes that will work to create safer roads and allow truck drivers the flexibility to be productive members of society. Our members of Congress have refused to work with us. Now the time has come to take the effort to a new level.
Our first order of business is to send the Articles of Declarations to the necessary Congressional committees and the Department of Transportation. You, as a petitioner, need to send the Articles of Declarations to your Representative and Senators. You need to attach a cover letter to the articles, titled "Letter to Congress". Then you need to send the "Letter of Intention" to your employer if you are a company driver. Owner-operators and small carriers should send the letter of intent to the brokers that they use and their contract customers.
A nationwide shutdown is not the primary objective. Our goal is to motivate our elected officials to work with the American truck drivers to make adequate changes in the laws that are adversely impacting the trucking industry and the motoring public.
Together, in unity, we are bigger, better, and stronger.
To whom it may concern,
As a driver for the trucking industry, I have a growing concern about the direction that Congress and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has taken the trucking industry. Due to a lack of confidence in the government’s ability to adequately regulate the trucking industry in a manner that produces results for workplace safety and the safety of the public, I will be participating in the truckers shut down on October 4, 2020. I apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. However, our government officials won’t listen to us if we don’t take an aggressive stance. You may like to contact your members of Congress to address this issue.
